About Beneficiaries

All net profits from the inaugural Community Builder Award event honoring Jamil Kadoura, owner of the Mediterranean Deli, will entirely go to two charities, TABLE of North Carolina and Kehillah’s Jewish Preschool for scholarship and assistance.

TABLE is a non-profit organization providing hunger relief and nutrition education services to children living in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and neighboring communities in Orange County, NC. Since its inception in 2008, TABLE has delivered over 2 million meals to local children. During the school year 2020-2021, more than 68,000 bags of healthy fresh food were delivered to children. It is a fact that children perform better in school, are healthier, and more easily succeed in life when they are well-fed.

Kehillah’s Preschool welcomes children of all faiths, ages 6 weeks to 5 years, with a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment. This 5-star licensed preschool helps children learn about the world around them. Here, children are involved in active play, quiet play, drama, music, yoga, dance, literacy, building and science. Our learning includes celebrations of all major Jewish holidays and a weekly Shabbat sing-along.

The Preschool currently has 81 children actively enrolled. The Preschool accepts subsidies from all local agencies, but sometimes that is not enough for families who are facing financial hardships. These hardships are exacerbated during the Covid 19 pandemic.

It is fitting that Jamil Kadoura, who willingly, joyfully and generously helps those in need, is the recipient of Kehillah Synagogue’s inaugural Community Builder Award! We hope you will join us in recognition of Jamil and the charities he holds dear.
